In a poignant message on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives’ steadfast support for Palestine. He called on the international community to leverage its economic and political power to halt what he termed as Israel’s ongoing “genocide” against Palestinians.
Addressing the plight of Palestinians, President Muizzu highlighted their enduring struggles against violence, discrimination, and loss of livelihood over generations. He emphasized that the Maldivian people’s solidarity with Palestine is not merely symbolic but deeply rooted in shared values and a collective sense of justice.
The President also underscored the need for heightened international cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which recently marked 75 years of service. He labeled the atrocities committed by Israel as “crimes against the multilateral system,” urging a unified global effort to hold those responsible for war crimes accountable.
Highlighting the importance of a sustainable resolution, President Muizzu reiterated that the only path to lasting peace is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders. He stressed that the Palestinian struggle remains one of the most critical issues in the international arena.
Concluding his address, the President called for collective action, reaffirming Maldives’ enduring commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights on the global stage.
