Residents of Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll, now have a convenient option for collecting their passports, thanks to a new service introduced by Maldives Immigration. Effective immediately, individuals who apply for passports via the “Imuga” online platform can choose Kudahuvadhoo as their collection point, easing the burden of traveling to Malé City.
In a recent announcement, Maldives Immigration confirmed that passport collection services will be available on Kudahuvadhoo every Monday. To utilize this service, applicants must select the island as their preferred collection location during the application process. This move is expected to benefit not only Kudahuvadhoo’s residents but also those from nearby islands who previously faced the costly and time-consuming journey to the capital.
The initiative is part of a broader effort launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on November 16 to enhance the accessibility of national identity cards and passports across the Maldives. The nationwide project aims to simplify the process for citizens and is expected to be fully operational by next year.
Currently, passport collection services are available in Malé City and Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alif Atoll. Maldives Immigration also plans to extend the service to Fonadhoo in Laamu Atoll later this year, further expanding its reach to more remote areas.
This latest development underscores the government’s commitment to decentralizing essential services, making life more convenient for citizens living in the atolls.
