Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development Dr. Mariyam Marya has reaffirmed the Maldives government’s dedication to advancing education through digital innovation.
Speaking at the Global Smart Education Conference (GSEC) 2024 in China, Dr. Marya underscored the government’s efforts to harness technology to enhance educational systems across the Maldives. However, Dr. Marya emphasized the government’s resolve to overcome these challenges and ensure that digital advancements in education benefit all students, regardless of their location.
Dr. Marya also stressed the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy, advocating for the inclusion of AI education in the national curriculum. She emphasized the need to develop ethical guidelines for AI use and highlighted the importance of equipping both students and educators with a thorough understanding of AI’s potential and risks.
During her official visit to China, at the invitation of Beijing Normal University, Dr. Marya will participate as a panelist in the “Round Table on Women’s Leadership in the Age of AI” and take part in the “Development and Use of Digital Textbook Forum,” both organized by the university.
