Maldives Immigration has commenced a new operation targeting illegal immigrants on Guraidhoo Island. Coordinated alongside the Maldives Police Service and other relevant authorities, the initiative aims to locate undocumented immigrants and identify unauthorized foreign businesses operating on the island.
This operation, the first of its kind launched by Immigration on an individual island, is part of a broader plan announced by Controller General of Immigration Mohammed Shamman Waheed. The agency intends to extend these efforts to additional atolls over the coming years to address the issue of illegal foreign nationals throughout the Maldives.
Controller General Shamman reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving illegal immigration challenges within the next three years. He also called upon local businesses to refrain from collaborating with undocumented immigrants or facilitating unauthorized residence for individuals without proper documentation.
