Crown & Champa Resorts, one of the Maldives’ leading hospitality companies, has made a historic appointment with the selection of Mohamed Solah as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This marks the first time a Maldivian has been appointed to the top leadership position at a major tourism company in the country.
Solah, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Crown & Champa Resorts, steps into the CEO role at a time when the company manages a diverse portfolio of nine resorts and city hotels. His appointment is a significant milestone, as both the CEO and COO roles have historically been held by expatriates.
With over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry, Solah’s career has been marked by steady progression. He began his journey in the hospitality sector at the age of 21, taking on the role of a telephone operator at Meeru Island Resort. His dedication and commitment saw him climb through the ranks, gaining valuable experience across various prestigious resorts both in the Maldives and internationally.
Solah’s career trajectory includes key positions, such as the General Manager of Zaya Al Barari Cluster in Dubai, and General Manager of Komandoo Resort and Kudadhoo Resort in the Maldives. He has also held the role of Director of Operations at Huravalhi Resort and Vilamendhoo Resort, and Front Office Manager at Amilla Fushi Resort.
Reflecting on his journey, Solah expressed his pride in reaching this historic milestone. He acknowledged the growing potential of the Maldivian tourism industry and looks forward to contributing to the further growth of Crown & Champa Resorts.
Solah’s appointment is a testament to his extensive experience and his commitment to the development of the tourism sector in the Maldives. His leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the company and the industry as a whole, while also highlighting the capabilities of Maldivian professionals within the sector.
