Maldivian Airlines Seeks Agents for New Flights to UK, Italy, and Germany

By timesofmv Published November 27, 2024

Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), the operator of Maldivian Airlines, is seeking General Passenger Sales Agents (GPSAs) in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany as it plans to expand its international network. This recruitment drive, which runs until December 5, is a key part of the airline’s preparations for launching new services to these major European markets.

The move to appoint agents in Europe comes as Maldivian prepares to introduce its first wide-body aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, into its fleet. This aircraft, which has a seating capacity of 268, is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives next month, with flights to these new European destinations expected to begin early in 2025.

The addition of the Airbus A330-200 represents a major step forward for the airline and aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enhance the country’s aviation sector. The government views the introduction of wide-body aircraft as a significant boost to the tourism industry, anticipating that it will not only increase visitor arrivals but also create new business opportunities within the local economy.

Currently, Maldivian operates international flights to three cities in India and Dhaka, Bangladesh. The expansion into European markets will mark a new chapter in the airline’s growth, strengthening its position as a regional aviation leader.

The introduction of these new routes and the wide-body aircraft is expected to contribute to both the airline’s and the Maldives’ broader economic goals, helping to stimulate tourism and trade while broadening the island nation’s global reach.
