The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has teamed up with Fliggy, China’s leading online travel platform under the Alibaba group, to strengthen the Maldives’ presence in the Chinese tourism market. This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by MMPRC’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shiuree, and Fliggy’s Vice President, Tong Teng, at a ceremony held at Villa Nautica. The event also featured Maldives’ Tourism Minister, Ibrahim Faisal.

MMPRC highlighted that this collaboration with Fliggy is aimed at promoting the Maldives as a top-tier destination for Chinese travelers. Shiuree expressed his gratitude towards Fliggy and the gathered stakeholders, emphasizing the potential of this partnership to drive another successful year for Maldives tourism.

The MMPRC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with industry partners to sustain and enhance the Maldives’ appeal in key global markets. Through this alliance, MMPRC aims to broaden its market reach, diversify tourism offerings, and stimulate growth in tourist arrivals.

China remains a key market for Maldivian tourism, with 184,632 Chinese visitors recorded so far this year, making it the leading source of tourist arrivals. The collaboration with Fliggy is seen as a significant step in maintaining the Maldives’ status as the World’s Leading Destination, ensuring that the latest updates from the “Sunny Side of Life” continue to resonate with Chinese travelers.
